A Ranking of the Best Hallmark Christmas Movies 2022

Between Hallmark's Christmas in July movies and their annual holiday movies that start in October, there are over 40 new movies this year. Which ones are the Best Hallmark Christmas movies 2022? This page is my ranking of all the movies that I've watched this year. And now that the Countdown to Christmas is complete, there are no more Christmas movies for me to review this year. Here is a look back at all of the original movies that aired this year.

Ranking of Best Hallmark Christmas Movies 2022

I think it's usually pretty easy to come up with the best Christmas movies for the year. And, the worst Hallmark Christmas movies. There are usually about 10 that fall into these categories. Five for the best and five for the worst. That leaves over 20 that fall into that middle ground. Ones that aren't terrible, but they aren't necessarily that memorable either. That's why I'm going to rank the ones that I watch this year.

My ranking of the best Hallmark Christmas movies 2022 is strictly subjective. It's my opinion for which Christmas movies moved me this year. The emotional and touching stories that I would watch again. If I had a hard time sitting through the movie the first time, then of course that movie is going to be at the bottom of the list. So my top ranked movie is at the top of this page and and as you scroll down you'll see the movies that didn't do well in my ranking.

Ghosts of Christmas Always

The Ghosts of Christmas Always aired on October 30th and boy was it a great way to end the month. While many people were getting ready to celebrate Halloween, this movie had me in full Christmas mode. And while there are still so many movies to go before Christmas, I'm fairly confident that this movie will remain at the top of my list for the best Hallmark Christmas movies 2022. Twas the Night Before Christmas

Twas the Night Before Christmas aired on December 17, 2022. It was one of the last Christmas movies to air on Hallmark, and boy did they save the best for last. This movie had everything. An original story, and great cast. Read more about this charming movie that I highly recommend.

Five More Minutes: Moments Like These

It may set the record for the longest title of the year, but Five More Minutes: Moments Like These is also one of the most heartwarming. Starring Ashley Williams, this movie is the story of a mother who is trying to adjust to life after the loss of her husband. And, trying to manage her son's grief as well. Jolly Good Christmas

This one is leaps and bounds above the other Christmas movies this year, so far at least. A Jolly Good Christmas first aired on the Hallmark Channel on October 29, 2022 so it's one of the earlier movies on the schedule. That means that it could be bumped out of the #1 spot, but I'm doubtful. This one is a gem! and I think it will stay at the top of my list for the best Hallmark Christmas movies 2022. Update: When I did my final ranking of the year I did end-up bumping this one out of the top spot, but it's still one of the best Hallmark Christmas Movies 2022 gave us. If I was basing the ranking purely on whether I would watch a movie again, then this one would definitely be in the top spot. It's just light, fun, and festive. But I ended-up putting a few before it because their stories had more substance so overall I think they deserve to be above this one. But point being, any of the top 5 on the list are all fantastic.

The Gift of Peace

Nikki DeLoach and Brennan Elliott star in The Gift of Peace which first aired on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on December 10th. This touching movie is one of the best and is one I think every Hallmark fan should watch this year. Learn more in my The Gift of Peace review.

Hanukkah on Rye

Hanukkah on Rye was the last holiday movie to air on Hallmark this year. And like the rest of the Christmas movies that aired this weekend, this movie was one of the best. Haul Out the Holly

When Emily heads home to stay with her parents for Christmas, she gets quite a surprise when they head to Florida and leave her behind to decorate the house to meet the HOA's strict decorating guidelines. My Southern Family Christmas

A really touching story that has a great cast with Jaicy Elliott, Moira Kelly and Bruce Campbell. A daughter visits her long-lost father and keeps her identity a secret as she gets to know him and his family. When the secret comes out, will it be a happy family reunion? When the San Francisco newspaper wants to cover the annual Chang Christmas party, Liv doesn't tell her editor that it's her family. A Big Fat Family Christmas shows us the beauty of the holiday, and how our community is so important. You can't celebrate one without the other. Starring Tia Carrere, and includes Jack Wagner. A Fabled Holiday

Brooke D'Orsay and Ryan Paevey star in A Fabled Holiday. This movie originally aired on December 3rd. When childhood friends bump into each other at a Christmas Inn, there's something familiar and special about it. Talia is a writer and bookstore owner who is known for her imagination. So is she imagining things in the town? Or, is there something magical going on? #Xmas

When an interior designer and owner of a home decor store enters a social media contest, she makes it look like she has a family. So when the promotor of the contest wants to do an at-home visit to learn more about her, Jen uses her best friend to create a fake family. But are the emotions they feel fake too? The Royal Nanny

Sure there have been plenty of nanny themed Christmas movies over the years, but The Royal Nanny is something different. It's a beautiful mix of humor, charm, and mystery. Yes, it's a romance and mystery wrapped up in one and that makes it something different. It's lighthearted, beautiful, and has a wonderful cast. Read the complete review.

A Holiday Spectacular

A Holiday Spectacular takes us back to 1958 and tells the story about a wealthy girl who follows her dreams and joins the Radio City Rockettes. It's a beautiful movie, and it's a special treat for anyone who loves dance and Broadway. We get a behind the scenes look at being a Rockette, and watching the movie is like being at one of their shows. Check out my review to learn more.

A Christmas Cookie Catastrophe

When the secret recipe to Cooper's Cookie's is stolen, Annie recruits the help of a local bakery owner. Can they re-create her Grandmother's cookie recipe before people find out and she loses her job as the CEO? This cute movie stars two Hallmark favorites, Rachel Boston and Victor Webster. Long Lost Christmas is a touching movie starring Taylor Cole and Benjamin Ayres. When a daughter learns that she has a long lost Uncle, she sets out to re-unite him with her mother. Three Wise Men and a Baby

Three Wise Men and a Baby is a fun adaptation of the original 1987 movie Three Men and a Baby. It stars three of Hallmark's most popular actors, Andrew Walker, Tyler Hynes, and Paul Campbell. When three brothers have to come together to care for a baby during the holiday, they get more than they bargained for. Read my review.

In Merry Measure

In Merry Measure stars Brendan Penny and Patti Murin as high school rivals who get a do-over when they compete against each other in a Christmas choir contest. Think Glee meets a Christmas movie and you have the general premise. It's an all-around good movie that is a joy to watch. Read the full review.

If you are a fan of the Hallmark Channel's Mrs. Miracle movies then We Need a Little Christmas is one you should check out. We all need a neighbor like Irene, played by the amazing Lynn Whitfield. A Maple Valley Christmas

For Andrew Walker fans, this is his first Christmas movie of the season. I am optimistic that his second movie will be at the top of this page when I'm done ranking all of the movies. For right now he'll have to settle for being in the middle of the pack, and that's probably overly generous on my side. Read my review.

Our Italian Christmas Memories

Beau Bridges stars in Our Italian Christmas Memories. It first aired on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on November 12th. A granddaughter helps her Nonno try to recreate the secret family recipe that her Nonna made for the family every Christmas. The search for the recipe takes Nonno down memory lane. The Holiday Sitter

When a workaholic uncle watches his niece and nephew, he gets more than he bargained for this Christmas. The Holiday Sitter stars Jonathan Bennett and it's essentially Uncle Buck at Christmas. You can read more about the story, and cast in my review.

A Magical Christmas Village

A Magical Christmas Village was definitely on the bubble for where to be placed. In all honesty it could have been bumped down a little lower, but I enjoyed seeing Marlo Thomas on screen so that kept it a little higher for me. Read the full review. This movie first aired on November 4, 2022.

A Royal Corgi Christmas

Calling all dog lovers. That's the best part of this movie, which of course is sad to say. If you want a movie with a royal theme, stick with the movies at the top of this list. A Royal Corgi Christmas just doesn't have the charm, or excitement of the other movies. Read the full review.

All Saints Christmas

Great music and a New Orleans setting make this one fun, but I had a hard time getting past the acting in this one. That pushes it down on my list because it makes it something that I wouldn't want to watch again. Read review.

A Cozy Christmas Inn

In A Cozy Christmas Inn Erika (Jodie Sweetin) is sent to Garland, Alaska to try and close a real estate deal for her boss. Of course the real estate deal involves her old boyfriend Andy (David O'Donnell), so Erika's emotions are torn. Closing the deal means a big promotion, but she also wants to do right by Andy. A Kismet Chrismas

A Kismet Christmas first aired on Sunday October 23rd. It is the story of kismet Christmas cookies. The myth behind the cookies says that it will help you find your true love. This is a unique Christmas story and is one that I will remember. Unfortunately it keeps getting pushed down the list because there are other movies I'd watch again before I'd choose this one. A mother shares bedtime stories with her daughter to help her know more about her Dad. But when the stories spark a deja-vu feeling, is it just a coincidence or is there more to it? Read the review.

We Wish You a Married Christmas

We Wish You a Married Christmas first aired on October 22, 2022. I had a hard time ranking this one. At first I thought it was a close contender with Noel Next Door, the first Hallmark Christmas movie of the season. But ultimately I put Noel and subsequent movies before it. There are three things I consider when ranking a movie. Did it move me, would I watch it again, and was it memorable?

First, how did it make me feel? Did it put me in the Christmas spirit? Did it move me and deliver good emotions? The more I thought about We Wish You a Married Christmas the less I liked it. I really like Kristoffer Polaha, so I think I wanted to like this movie more than I did. But watching two unhappy people isn't very uplifting and every time the movie showed a connection between the two, they immediately squashed it. So this movie did not move me in a positive way, and it isn't one that I would jump to watch again.

A Tale of Two Christmases

Torn between the city, and her hometown, Emma gets a chance to enjoy two different types of Christmas in A Tale of Two Christmases. This movie originally aired on November 26, 2022 but it was the last movie I watched this year. So I guess this movie has the distinction of being at the bottom of two of my lists this year. Unfortunately, in addition to being the last movie I watched, it's also at the bottom of my list for best Hallmark Christmas movies 2022. Not a distinction that any movie wants.
