The Hallmark Channel brought out one of its biggest stars for the first Saturday night movie for the 2022 countdown to Christmas. Here's a We Wish You a Married Christmas review to let you know if this movie is sugar and spice and all things nice.

About We Wish You a Married Christmas

We Wish You a Married Christmas is the story of Robby (Kristoffer Polaha) and Becca (Marisol Nichols). A married couple going through marriage counseling to help their failing marriage. It's just before Christmas and their therapist recommends getting away to a charming Inn to see if they can re-kindle the flame between them.

Robby and Becca get to the Inn and they begin to have second thoughts about the trip. As they head back to their car to return to the city, their car is damaged by a massive decoration falling on it. Of course it's a small town and right before the holiday, so the mechanic warns it will take a while to repair. That leaves the couple stranded at the Inn and forced to give the vacation a try.

The movie takes us on a journey through their marriage and a glimpse into what went wrong. Like so many, it seems to be a case of not focusing on each other or prioritizing the marriage. They always try different things to fix things, but really all they needed to do was focus on each other.

We get to watch the two reconnect as they spend time together doing fun holiday activities. They chip in around the Inn, bartend at a staff Christmas party, and go Christmas tree shopping together. They even put their baking skills to work as the couple work together to bake goodies for a fundraiser.

We Wish You a Married Christmas: The Cast

The movie stars one of the Hallmark Channel's strongest actors, Kristoffer Polaha. He has starred in a Hallmark Christmas movie every year since 2016. And, he stars in the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries series Murder 101. If you missed the 2021 Christmas Movie A Dickens of a Holiday, you should check it out. It's one of Polaha's best performances and it paired him with Brooke D'Orsay for one of the best Hallmark movies of 2021.

We Wish You a Married Christmas has a decent ensemble cast, although they all seem to be stuck in typical roles. I feel like with many Hallmark Christmas movies they run through a checklist to make sure that they have the representation they feel they should have. This is a short-sighted approach and usually ends-up hurting the movie.

We Wish You a Married Christmas Setting

I think that one of the more appealing aspects of this movie is the location. The story takes place in a small town, For this We Wish You a Married Christmas review I look at the setting as one of the pluses in the movie. Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for animals. I enjoyed that their dog went on the trip with the couple and I also enjoyed watching them visit an alpaca farm. A rare opportunity for me to see this cute animal up close so to speak.

We Wish You a Married Christmas Review Recap

My We Wish You a Married Christmas review has changed a bit as I reflect back on the movie. I enjoyed it as I was watching it, although there was nothing especially magical about it. I think that my bias towards Kristoffer Polaha probably skewed my initial We Wish You a Married Christmas review and as I've had a day to think about it the movie has dropped down on my list. It's a solid movie that is better than what other channels put out, but it's not going to be a Christmas movie that I'll jump to watch again.
