About Reba McEntires The Hammer

Kim Wheeler (Reba McEntire) is a new travel judge covering the rural districts in Nevada. She is taking over for Judge Brewer who died suddenly from an apparent heart attack. But the case, and her time on the bench, is put at risk when it turns out that the judge was murdered.

Kim may be a new judge, but she is not new to the area. In fact, she's right back where she grew up. It's an area she escaped when she was younger. Having grown up in a house with an abusive father who was an alcoholic, she left the area and didn't look back. That is, until the Governor appointed her to the bench.

Reba McEntires The Hammer follows Judge Wheeler as she tries to solve the mystery of who killed Judge Brewer. Along the way she has to fight off her own attacks, as someone clearly does not want her on the bench. And in an area where men aren't keen on having women in power, she isn't exactly welcomed with open arms.

Review of Reba McEntires The Hammer

Reba McEntires The Hammer is a fun and entertaining Lifetime original movie. Judge Kim Wheeler is a hoot and she quite literally comes out swinging right out of the gate. In fact, that's where she gets the nickname “the Hammer”. When she has to defend herself against someone in her courtroom, she uses the only means available to fight off her attacker. With one swift blow of her gavel, the guy goes down and everyone in town quickly learns that Kim is not a women to be messed with.

This movie is a lot of fun to watch. Of course it's always a treat to watch Reba McEntire, but the movie is filled with veteran actors who round out the supporting cast. There's Melissa Peterman who plays her sister Kris. And, real life partner Rex Linn plays a prominent businessman whose son appears in front of the judge.

On top of a great cast. Reba McEntires The Hammer is an interesting story that leaves you wondering who did it. And, how will the judge solve the mystery and save her sister in the process? Kim Wheeler is a pistol, who speaks her mind and doesn't take crap from anyone. She isn't afraid of the men who try to intimidate her. And, she isn't afraid to roll up her sleeves and do the work. She is an interesting character, and her wit makes the movie fun to watch.

Reba McEntires The Hammer debuted on Lifetime on January 7, 2023. It's the first original movie of the new year and it's a great way to kick things off. I haven't heard that there are any additional movies planned with this character, but here's hoping that Reba and the network come to an agreement. It would be quite a treat to see Reba, and the entire cast, back for more mysteries to solve. Or, investigations to follow as Judge Kim oversees more cases. As she covers the area from Las Vegas to Reno, there certainly would be plenty of opportunity to tell some juicy stories out of those parts.
